Mortar for 1,000 bricks
Using a 6 : 1 : 1 sand, cement and lime mix by volume, 1,000 bricks need roughly 0.42 m³ of wet mortar: about 5 × 20 kg bags of cement, 3 × 20 kg bags of lime and 0.67 t of sand. Bricklayers’ allowances vary with the brick and joint.
